01 · What it is
A config, not a distro fork
jatstation is the workstation layer of the jatstack: an opinionated, Hyprland-based Linux desktop configuration tuned for running an agent fleet alongside a human developer. Where jat orchestrates agents and jat-appliance gives them dedicated compute, jatstation sets up the machine you actually sit at — window manager, bar, launcher, terminal, and keybindings — so agent panes, notifications, and your own workflow share one coherent desktop instead of fighting each other.
Point it at a fresh Arch + Hyprland install (or an existing one) and it
converges dotfiles, keybinds, and theming from a single curated manifest —
the same way the rest of the jatstack converges config across a fleet of
machines rather than treating each box as a one-off. (The project is still jomarchy under the hood — same repo, same dotfiles; jatstation is its jat-family name.)
Built on the shoulders of Omarchy, the Hyprland-based Arch setup jatstation extends. Omarchy nails the opinionated, beautiful desktop; jatstation layers the agent-fleet conventions on top. Credit and thanks to the upstream project.
02 · What it configures
One manifest, the whole desktop
Window manager
Hyprland layout, gaps, borders, blur, opacity, window rules, and animations.
Bar & launcher
The Quickshell bar (omarchy quattro) and the Walker launcher, themed to match — including fleet bar widgets like jat-screens.
Displays & workspaces
jat-screens: a visual panel to arrange monitors (resolution, refresh, HDR, VRR, scale, saved profiles) and spread named workspaces across them.
Terminal
Alacritty, Foot, Kitty, or Ghostty — one config, your pick of emulator.
Keybindings
Workspace, window, and layer-rule bindings, plus screenshot and lock keys.
Theming
Wallpaper, color scheme, night light, and idle/lock behavior in one place.
Agent fleet hooks
Notification routing and pane conventions the JAT agent fleet expects on a workstation.
03 · Displays & workspaces
jat-screens: arrange monitors, name every workspace
The bar ships jat-screens, a Quickshell panel that replaces hand-editing Hyprland monitor config. Drag displays to lay them out — edges snap flush, neighbours reflow — then set resolution, refresh, scale, rotation, HDR, VRR, and mirroring per screen. Apply previews live with a 20-second Keep / Revert, and a desk can be saved as a named profile that restores when a display is plugged in.
It also owns workspaces. Pick a total and spread them across your screens,
numbered by physical position — the leftmost screen gets 1, so the numbers
read left to right the way the desks sit. Every workspace can be named
(right-click a tile or Super+Shift+R), with
the name shown right on the bar and auto-derived from the focused app until
you set your own. It's a fleet fork of IM0001GT/omarchy-screens (MIT), installed like any other bar plugin from the manifest.
04 · How it fits
The desk the stack is operated from
jatstation is the desktop a jatstack developer runs day-to-day: jat for orchestration, jat-pilot for driving your own browser, jat-secret for credentials, and jat.run for reaching machines on the tailnet — all configured to feel native on top of it.
Two tools plus two tools makes five: the four wired to feel native, and the desk they're all operated from.
